Who Is Behind RedMedia? New Investigation Uncovers the Account’s History and Anti-Nicki Minaj Posts
If you’re a Barb on X, you’ve probably seen RedMedia. The account presents itself as a media platform covering entertainment, music, politics and culture, but it has also become known among Barbz for repeatedly posting negative stories and claims about Nicki Minaj.
Now, a new open-source investigation claims to have uncovered who is actually behind the account.
On August 8, 2026, independent researcher sns_anon published “Unmasking RedMedia: An Open-Source Investigation,”with research assistance credited to @thefoxyhyena and @s9inted.
The investigation digs through years of RedMedia’s digital history, including archived posts, previous usernames, account-location information and older social media profiles.
And some of what they found is very interesting.

RedMedia Was Apparently Once Friendly With Barbz

One of the biggest surprises in the investigation is that RedMedia apparently wasn’t always anti-Nicki.
Archived posts included in the report show the account previously interacting positively with Barbz, encouraging Nicki Minaj streams and participating in Barb-related engagement.
According to the investigator, that began to change in 2024.
The account eventually became what many Barbz recognize today: a page that frequently posts negative content about Nicki Minaj.
Why that shift happened remains unclear.
Barbz Have Been Questioning RedMedia
The account’s behavior had already started raising questions long before this investigation was published.
Earlier this year, I made a TikTok asking whether anyone else thought it was strange that RedMedia seemed to constantly post negative stories, misinformation and slander about Nicki Minaj.
One example I discussed involved the Mama Tina’s Gumbo controversy.
@pinkworldstation Why are Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion promoting pages that are putting the public in d@ng3r by distributing m!s!nformation ⁉️🤔 #cardib #megantheestallion #redmedia #tinaknowles #rap

When people online reported becoming sick after eating the gumbo at the Houston Rodeo, RedMedia accused Barbz of lying about the situation.
But there really was a health investigation.
The Houston Health Department temporarily shut down Mama Tina’s Gumbo following an illness complaint, and inspection records later revealed multiple health-code violations. The booth was eventually allowed to reopen after corrective action was taken.
That doesn’t prove every illness reported online was caused by the gumbo, but the health complaint, temporary closure and violations were real.
That incident was one of the reasons I began questioning RedMedia’s credibility and its apparent fixation on Nicki Minaj in the first place.
The Investigation Traced RedMedia’s Digital History
According to sns_anon, X’s account information showed that @RedMedia_us was based in Africa, despite the “US” branding.
The researcher then analyzed more than 1,400 posts and found that the account’s inactive hours appeared more consistent with a West African sleep schedule than an American one.
Older posts reportedly provided another clue. Some of RedMedia’s earliest content included Nigerian Pidgin English and posts about Nigerian music.
The investigation then turned to RedMedia’s username history.
According to the report, the account previously used @RedMusic_us and, even earlier, @laygendonly.
That older username reportedly led the researcher to additional profiles and an online history that ultimately pointed toward a specific person believed to be operating RedMedia.
The original investigation lays out that trail step-by-step and includes screenshots and archived evidence supporting the researcher’s conclusion.
So Why the Constant Nicki Minaj Posts?
That part remains unanswered.
The investigation may provide a possible answer to who is allegedly operating RedMedia, but it doesn’t establish why the account went from positively interacting with Barbz to repeatedly posting negative content about Nicki Minaj.
And that may be the most interesting part of the entire story.
The same question Barbz were asking before the investigation still remains:
Why does RedMedia seem so obsessed with Nicki Minaj?
