This Monday, we witnessed a history defining moment in hip-hop. The Big 3, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj, reunited onstage together after 8 years for Champagne Papi’s OVO Fest. Weezy, Drake and Nicki performed a few of their Young Money classics as the live audience and viewers at home, watched in awe.

From the moment the OVO Fest-Young Money Reunion was announced, fans across musical spectrums waited in anticipation to see the legends share astage together. And they did not disappoint. They each performed a set of their own hits, but the magic came when they were on stage together.

You could see and feel them feed off each other’s energy and at moments it was as if they were in awe of each other. To truly grasp the historical significance of this moment, you must go back to the beginning. Lil Wayne was already a solidified GOAT when he signed Toronto’s own, Drake and the Queens bred spitter, Nicki Minaj. Female rap wasn’t being invested in and Drake was an up and coming rapper. Saying the odds were stacked against Lil Wayne would be an understatement, but he believed in himself and his Young Money Team.

Drake and Nicki Minaj would later become the biggest rap superstars in the world. Andcontinue to blaze new trails. Leading the pack for this and the next generation of rappers. Salute to The King, The Goat and yaassssss, The Queen.
